Biography
Jared Deck is an Oklahoma songwriter whose work grows out of the family farm, the oilfield, and the factory floor, and out of the boom-and-bust rhythms of rural America that shaped all three. His self-titled debut (2016), produced by Wes Sharon, drew praise from Rolling Stone Country and American Songwriter, and its song "The American Dream" took first place at the Woody Guthrie Folk Festival Songwriting Contest. He followed with Bully Pulpit (2019), a defiant blend of gospel, country, and rock, before the pandemic stopped touring and led him into organizing in his community of Norman and, in 2022, to a seat in the Oklahoma House of Representatives. He returned to music with Head Above Water (2024), and now closes one chapter and opens another with his upcoming album Foolish Ways (2027) led by the Texas country-soul single "Break What's Broken."
